Cold Start-Up System
A Cold Engine Start-Up System must be installed. Alcohol and gasoline present different physical characteristics and, when temperature is below 15ºC and the tank filled with alcohol, engine start-up is hard.
In order to overcome the cold-starting issues, a 15-percent addition of gasoline is recommended each time you fill the tank. This may offset the problem, but will not guarantee immediate engine start-up at very low temperatures.
ALCOFLEX´s program facilitates the use of cold start system, but we stress that there may be situations in which a second start attempt must follow.

Spark Plugs
Spark plugs do not need replacement. Normally, the ones found in engines are suitable for gasoline use as well as any gasoline-alcohol blended fuels. For further detais, see also:

Fuel pumps
This is a particularly delicate issue in fuel conversion (using ALCOFLEX or any other equipment). After a while, the fuel pump may need to be replaced according to the car brand, model, manufacturing year and corrosion tolerance for adulterated fuels. It is important to mention that the gasoline currently available in the brazilian market has an estimate 25 percent alcohol addition, which lead us to conclude that the fuel pumps on the market already have a protection against alcohol corrosion.
Another important alcohol characteristic is that, once it presents no solvent in its composition, all those impurities deposited in the bottom of the tank resulting from gasoline use may detach and cause filters and pre-filters to be stuck, blocking the fuel flow and therefore harming the pump. See details in http://www.dana.com.br

A pump pressure test is adviseable both during installation and after 1,000 km, when it should be repeated.
Warning: sudden increase in fuel consumption and engine cranking without starting may indicate problems with pumps.

Injection Nozzles
No need for replacement. There is no relation between alcohol use and a reduction in estimated lifespan.

Engine
No changes need to be made in the original engine or injection module parameters.

Compression Ratio
ALCOFLEX, as well as any other electronic conversion system or device, does not compensate the compression ratio. See more details in“MYTHS & TRUTHS”.
What in truth happens after installing ALCOFLEX is that no increase in engine power is gained. The compression ratio remains unchanged, and therefore the energetic and calorific potential of alcohol is not fully used. On the other hand, there are no significant losses in engine power and, in certain cases, no losses whatsoever. Engine power is directly proportional to compression ratio – in other words, the higher the rate, the better the performance of your engine.

Filters
An antecipated replacement in gas filters is highly recommended, as mentioned above. Alcohol then provides a better engine cooling and facilitates the removal of impurities from the tank and the feeding system. Ideally, a replacement should be done after 1,000 km. Oil filters – There is no need for an immediate replacement. It can be done after the next oil change. It is important to mention that alcohol eliminates any possibility of oil contamination by solvents, then increasing lubrication effectiveness and cooling.

Fuel
Be extra careful while filling your tank. Your car will surely not run well and have a very poor performance in case you use by any chance adulterated alcohool. Seek only reliable fuels.

General Vehicle and Engine Conditions
In order to instal ALCOFLEX, your engine and its parts must be in perfect working conditions. Sensors, among other mechanical and electrical parts, must be checked for a successful installation.
